Nenad Stekić, an expert on China and a senior research fellow at the Serbian Institute of International Politics and Economics, visited the Ludovika University of Public Service as a guest lecturer in the Ludovika Scholars Program from April 20-24, 2026. His professional program was organized by the John Lukacs Institute for Strategy and Politics of the Eötvös József Research Center.
His public lecture titled "China’s Economic Presence in the Balkans" was held on April 21, 2026, organized jointly by the John Lukacs Institute for Strategy and Politics and the Faculty of Public Governance and International Studies. Nenad Stekić provided a comprehensive overview of China's presence in the Western Balkans, the investment and trade processes, and the broader geopolitical-economic context, as well as the international situation of the Western Balkans.
The John Lukacs Institute for Strategy and Politics also organized a closed-door expert workshop on April 22, 2026, where Nenad Stekić held a workshop titled ”Political and Economic Relations and the Evolution of Social Patterns between China and Central and Eastern Europe until 2030.” The event was attended by staff members of the Institute, doctoral students, and external experts specializing in China, who engaged in an active professional dialogue regarding the methodological aspects of examining political and economic interactions between China and the Central and Eastern European region. During the conversation, an extremely deep and substantive professional discourse developed, which provided valuable experience for the participants.
Nenad Stekić’s visit strengthened the professional ties between the participating institutions and laid the groundwork for potential future academic cooperation and exchange of expertise.
